Jim Leighton





Jim Leighton is a Solicitor Advocate of England and Wales, IMI Qualified Mediator, LMAA Supporting Member and Consultant to the FD&D and the P&I Claims Teams at NorthStandard, assisting with second opinions on trickly disputes, drafting complex bespoke clauses and preparing pleadings for disputes being resolved in arbitration proceedings. Jim is also an aspiring maritime arbitrator.

Jim obtained his first class BSc (Hons) Maritime Business with Maritime Law at the University of Plymouth and his distinction class LLM (Maritime Law) at the University of Southampton.

Jim regularly prepares case notes and articles, for DMC’s Case Notes, Lloyd’s Shipping & Trade Law and NorthStandard publications, and presents on topical commercial maritime law issues at conferences and training events, including the IML Southampton Maritime Law Short Course and the ASDEM Laytime & Demurrage Conference.
